What Are Automations?
Automations in the Boldr Energy app let you control your A/C or heating automatically based on time, presence, temperature, and humidity. Whether you want your system to turn on at a specific time or switch off when everyone leaves home, Automations give you flexible, hands-free control of your indoor comfort.
There are four types of automations available in the Boldr Energy app:
1. Scheduled Automations (Time-Based)
Scheduled Automations allow you to turn your A/C or heating on or off at specific times to match your daily routine.
Example: You can schedule your A/C to turn on at 6:45 pm to cool your home before you return from work, and turn off at 8:30 am after you leave in the morning.
2. Temperature and Humidity-Based Automations
Boldr devices include built-in temperature and humidity sensors that monitor your indoor environment.
You can create automations that trigger when temperature or humidity reaches a certain level. For example, if the room temperature reaches 75°F, you can have your A/C turn on and cool the space down to 70°F. This helps maintain a comfortable and consistent climate for your home and family.
3. Presence-Based Automations
The Boldr Energy app uses your phone’s location to understand whether you or other household members are home or away.
With presence-based automations, you can:
- Turn off heating or cooling when the last person leaves home
- Turn it back on when the first person arrives
- Set a specific temperature, mode, or even a swing setting based on presence
You can also trigger automations based on local sunrise or sunset times.
4. Comfort Zone Automations
Comfort Zone automations keep your room within a preferred temperature range using both heating and cooling as needed.
When the room is within your set range, the system can automatically turn off or switch to Fan Mode to save energy while maintaining comfort.
Create a Time-Based Automation
Open the Boldr Energy app.
Tap Automations in the bottom navigation bar.
Tap the + icon and select At a time of day.
Choose the time you want the automation to run.
Select the days you want the automation to repeat.
Choose whether to enable presence conditions.
Tap Next, then select the room where the Boldr device is installed.
- Choose the desired device settings:
- Power on or off
- Mode
- Fan speed
Swing mode
Optionally, select or create a Scene to run the automation based on whether you are home or away.
Presence Condition Options
- Off: No presence condition is applied.
- When I am not home: The automation runs when you leave home.
- When someone is home: The automation runs when at least one household member linked to the app is home.
- When no one is home: The automation runs only when everyone is away.
Create a Sunrise or Sunset Automation
Open the Boldr Energy app.
Tap Automations.
Tap the + icon and select At sunset or sunrise.
Choose whether the automation runs at sunrise or sunset.
Select the days the automation should repeat.
Choose whether to enable presence conditions.
Tap Next, then select the room you wish the automations to run in.
- Choose the device settings:
- Power on or off
- Mode
- Fan speed
Swing mode
Optionally, apply or create a Scene.
Presence Condition Options

- When I am not home: The automation runs when you leave home.
- When someone is home: The automation runs when at least one household member linked to the app is home.
- When no one is home: The automation runs only when everyone is away.
Create an Automation When People Arrive
Open the Boldr Energy app.
Tap Automations.
Tap the + icon and select People arrive.
Choose whether the automation runs when you arrive or when anyone, linked to the app in your household, arrives.
- Select when the automation is allowed to run:
- Anytime
- During the day (sunrise to sunset)
- At night (sunset to sunrise)
Specific times
Choose the days the automation should repeat.
- Tap Next, then select the room.
- Choose the device settings:
- Power on or off
- Mode
- Fan speed
Swing mode
Optionally, apply or create a Scene.

Create an Automation When People Leave
Open the Boldr Energy app.
Tap Automations.
Tap the + icon and select People leave.
Choose whether the automation runs when you leave or when anyone in your household leaves.
- Select when the automation is allowed to run:
- Anytime
- During the day (sunrise to sunset)
- At night (sunset to sunrise)
Specific times
Choose the days the automation should repeat.
Tap Next, then select the room.
- Choose the device settings:
- Power on or off
- Mode
- Fan speed
Swing mode
Optionally, apply or create a Scene.
Presence Condition Options
- Off: No presence condition is applied.
- When I am not home: The automation runs when you leave home.
- When someone is home: The automation runs when at least one household member linked to the app is home.
- When no one is home: The automation runs only when everyone is away.\
Create an Automation Based on Room Temperature Changes
Open the Boldr Energy app.
Tap Automations.
Tap the + icon and select Room temperature changes.
Select the room you want to monitor.
Set the temperature threshold for when the temperature rises above a chosen value.
Set the temperature threshold for when the temperature drops below a chosen value.
- Choose when the automation is allowed to run:
- Anytime
- During the day
- At night
Specific times
Select the days the automation should repeat.
Tap Next, then select the room where the device is installed.
- Choose the device settings:
- Power on or off
- Mode
- Fan speed
Swing mode
Optionally, apply or create a Scene.

Create an Automation Based on Humidity Changes
Open the Boldr Energy app.
Tap Automations.
Tap the + icon and select Room humidity changes.
Select the room you want to monitor.
Set the humidity level for when it rises above a chosen value.
Set the humidity level for when it drops below a chosen value.
- Choose when the automation is allowed to run:
- Anytime
- During the day
- At night
Specific times
Select the days the automation should repeat.
Tap Next, then select the room where the device is installed.
- Choose the device settings:
- Power on or off
- Mode
- Fan speed
Swing mode
Optionally, apply or create a Scene.
